Who this policy covers
This policy covers NORTH SOLE (SOLE), including its Android and iPhone apps and the associated challenge service. Trine Studios develops and operates the software. For privacy questions, access, correction or deletion requests, contact support@trinestudios.co and say that your request concerns NORTH SOLE.
Your gym, coach or challenge organiser may separately hold information about you. This policy describes the SOLE software service; ask your organiser about records they keep outside it.
Your choices: health connections and notifications are optional. Private writing is kept out of other members' app views. You can request account and data deletion without reinstalling the app.
Information we handle
- Account and membership: your name or display name, sign-in email addresses, account reference, invitation and group membership, settings and authentication records. Your organiser may supply your invitation or roster details before you sign in.
- Challenge activity: the entries you make about steps, strength or classes, nutrition and hydration, sleep, mobility and mindful practice; goals, completion records, activity dates, XP, levels, achievements and related group activity.
- Private writing: journal entries, personal reflections, check-ins and weekly notes you choose to save. Some entries may reveal information about your health or wellbeing. Please avoid including other people's personal information unnecessarily.
- Optional connections: daily step totals from Apple Health or Health Connect, and selected food diary and nutrient information from MyFitnessPal if you connect it. Details are below.
- Notifications: notification preferences, device delivery tokens or installation identifiers, and delivery records if you enable push notifications.
- Feedback and support: the report or correspondence you send, an account reference and display name where available, basic app/device information, and a screenshot if you choose to include one.
- Service and security information: request and error information needed to operate and protect the service. Hosting and delivery providers receive connection information such as IP addresses when handling requests.
Why we use it
We use this information to verify sign-in, manage invitations and memberships, save and show your progress, calculate challenge scores, support group features, deliver requested notices, answer support requests and keep the service reliable and secure.
Core account and challenge information is used to provide the service you request. Optional integrations use the permissions you grant; you can withdraw those permissions as described below. We also use limited operational information to prevent misuse, investigate faults and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data. SOLE does not use health data for advertising, marketing profiles or credit decisions.
What other people can see
Members of your challenge can see shared information such as your display name, challenge participation, completed activities, XP, levels, achievements and group progress. Accountability features share the check-in or support status shown in those features.
Your journal, personal reflections and private weekly notes are excluded from other members' app views. They are stored by the service; this is not end-to-end encrypted storage. Authorised service administrators can access stored records for operating, supporting and maintaining SOLE. Do not treat a private entry as confidential from the service operator.
MyFitnessPal diary details and connection credentials are kept separately from group views and ordinary challenge administration. Feedback reports are available to the studio's authorised support operators.
Optional Apple Health and Health Connect steps
With your permission, SOLE reads only aggregated step counts from Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android. It sends daily totals to your authenticated SOLE account and saves them as your challenge steps entry, just as if you typed the count. Step totals are used for the steps goal, completion and XP.
SOLE can sync while open and, if you allow the relevant background access, while closed. Background timing is controlled by your device. Yesterday's total may also be read until noon in the challenge's timezone to catch late-arriving steps. A synced reading never reduces a higher count already saved.
SOLE does not write to Apple Health or Health Connect or read other health record types through these connections. Health data is not used or shared for advertising. Manual step entry remains available. You can stop syncing in SOLE, sign out, or revoke its access in Apple Health or Health Connect. Revoking access stops future reads; it does not remove step totals already saved to SOLE.
Optional MyFitnessPal connection
If you choose to connect MyFitnessPal, SOLE asks for consent before using your credentials to sign in to that service. The password is used for the sign-in exchange and is not retained. Connection tokens and the latest selected food diary, calorie and protein data are encrypted in SOLE's storage. The connection is read-only; it does not write to your MyFitnessPal diary.
While connected, SOLE may refresh that information in the background, including while the app is closed. It keeps the latest selected day's data rather than a full imported diary history. Food details are not included in group progress, challenge activity feeds or push messages.
Use Disconnect in Nutrition to remove the saved connection and cached diary from SOLE and stop future reads. This does not delete your MyFitnessPal account, remove data held by MyFitnessPal or sign you out of its own app. MyFitnessPal is a separate service with its own terms and privacy policy.
Notifications, feedback and device storage
Push notifications are optional. Device delivery information is used by our notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging; iPhone delivery also uses Apple Push Notification service. Our sender receives delivery destinations and generic notification text, not your journal or nutrition diary. You can turn notifications off in the app or device settings. Firebase Analytics is disabled in SOLE.
Using Report a problem or the optional shake gesture opens a feedback form. Opening it does not submit a report. Review the text and screenshot, remove the screenshot if you prefer, and use Send to submit. A screenshot may contain information visible on screen. Feedback is linked to an account reference and, where available, your display name; the ordinary in-app report does not send your sign-in email to the feedback service.
The app stores sign-in information and preferences on your device to keep you signed in and remember your choices. Protect access to your device. Signing out ends the app session and stops its health syncing.
Email support
When you email support@trinestudios.co, Calico stores your email address, message, attachments and our replies so we can handle your request. Cloudflare routes and stores support mail, and Postmark receives and delivers it.
We use automated categorisation by TypeSafe to help sort new requests. It receives the subject and up to 4,000 characters of the first message, with recognised email addresses, phone numbers and wallet addresses removed. Attachments and later replies are not sent for categorisation. A person handles your request. Please avoid unnecessary health information and never send passwords or sign-in codes.
Service providers and international processing
We use infrastructure providers to host, secure and deliver SOLE. These include Cloudflare for the challenge backend and storage, Railway for the notification sender, and Google Firebase and Apple for push delivery. Our public studio website is hosted by Vercel. Email and support systems process the messages needed to sign you in or answer you.
Providers process the information needed for their role. Their infrastructure may operate in countries outside your country of residence. Contact us if you need details of the providers, processing locations or safeguards relevant to your information.
We may disclose information where required by law or where necessary to investigate abuse or protect people and the service. We do not make your private account records publicly available.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and challenge records while they are needed to provide your account and its history. Finishing a challenge, leaving a group, signing out or uninstalling the app does not automatically erase those records. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data, or make a more limited data request.
- Sign-in codes expire after ten minutes. App sessions ordinarily last up to 30 days and may renew while you use the app.
- The MyFitnessPal cache holds the latest selected day's information and is removed with its connection when you disconnect.
- Submitted feedback reports and screenshots expire within 90 days.
- Email support conversations are normally deleted 365 days after resolution, or after 365 days without activity for other tickets. Spam is deleted after 30 days without activity. Content-free ticket and audit records may remain; private support backups expire after 30 days.
Account deletion is handled by the studio after verifying the request. It covers associated profile and membership details, identifiable challenge entries and private writing, sign-in records, saved connections, notification registrations and linked feedback. We may need to retain limited information for legal obligations, security or handling a dispute. Our response will explain any exception and its reason and duration, including any backup copies that cannot be removed immediately. Backups are not the same as an active account.
See Delete a SOLE account for the request steps. Removing data from SOLE does not delete originals held independently by Apple Health, Health Connect, MyFitnessPal, your organiser or other people.
Age eligibility
NORTH SOLE is intended for people aged 16 and over. It is not intended for children under 16. If you believe an under-16 account has been invited or registered, contact support@trinestudios.co so we can investigate and handle the account and its data appropriately.
Your privacy choices and rights
You can edit entries where the app allows it, disconnect optional services, change notification choices and request access, correction or deletion by emailing support@trinestudios.co. We may ask for proportionate information to confirm account ownership. Never send us a password or sign-in code.
Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy of your information and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Tell us your concern so we can respond; you may also complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office.
We will update this page when our practices change and provide additional notice of material changes where appropriate. The date above shows the latest update.
